Are you the parent of a child with type 1 diabetes. Do you believe that there is no way your child could go away to summer camp? Ever? Does your child wish there was a way to go to camp like many of his or her friends do every summer? I’m sure you can answer both of these questions with a yes. Here’s OUR answer – Dr. Barclay’s Camp for Children with Diabetes can make that dream come true for your child – and set your mind at ease over their diabetes care! July 21 – 27, 2013 are the dates for the week-long camp set at Camp Fitch YMCA in North Springfield, PA.
Established in 1977, Dr. Barclay’s Camp for Children with Diabetes has provided children with diabetes an opportunity to have fun in a safe environment under the supervision of a team of diabetes specialists. Dr. Luis Aparicio is the Camp Medical Director and oversees the children with diabetes at the camp. Children will experience an extensive aquatic program, rock climbing, horseback riding, archery, riflery, fishing, crafts, and campfires. They will experience ALL of these things under the watchful eye of trained counselors and directors. Your children have the opportunity to make friendships to last a lifetime, to experience summer camp without the worries of their diabetes “getting in the way” – and to connect with children who are fighting the same battle against type 1 diabetes every day.
